Domaine des Terres Dorées is located in Charnay, a village north of Lyon, France and is the estate of noted Beaujolais vigneron Jean-Paul Brun. Domaine des Terres Dorées' wine portfolio includes the appellations of Morgon, Fleurie, Côte de Brouilly, Moulin-à-Vent, and Beaujolais AOC.
The 16-hectare (40-acre) Terres Dorées estate was originally a family farm with only 4ha dedicated to vines. The grapes produced were sold off to a local cooperative until 1977, when Jean-Paul expressed an interest in winemaking. The following year Domaine des Terres Dorées was established, and is dedicated almost completely to the production of Gamay, planted on granite soils.
Jean-Paul Brun produces atypical Beaujolais with Burgundian winemaking practices. Unlike traditional whole-cluster, semi-carbonic Beaujolais, Brun handpicks, sorts, and de-stems grapes before a long maceration and time in oak or cement vats. He uses only wild yeast from his vineyard for the fermentation process, rarely chaptalizes, and releases his wines almost a year after harvest.
