Cantine Due Palme is an Italian wine co-operative in Cellino San Marco, Salento. Founded in 1989, it now has 400 growers drawing on 2500 hectares (6000 acres) of vineyards across Puglia. The extensive portfolio covers appellations across Puglia and styles from still to sparkling, with the Selvarossa Salice Salentino as the flagship. This wine is a perennial winner of the top Tre Bicchiere rating in the Gambero Rosso wine guide.
Unlike many other large-scale producers in the region, Cantine Due Palme is commited to the traditional Alberello method of bush vine training. The co-operative has also led efforts to revive the region's traditional Susumaniello variety, and reintroduce the Settonce vineyard planting pattern dating back to the Roman Empire. In contrast to this traditional approach in the vineyard, the winery uses modern equipment and techniques. (© Copyright material, Wine-Searcher.com)
