Chateau de la Negly

Château de la Négly is a French wine estate situated in the La Clape sub-appellation of Languedoc. The estate has been the home to the Rosset family for several decades and is now managed by Jean-Paul Rosset. Under his direction, Château de la Négly has become widely regarded as one of the best producers in the Languedoc.

Château de la Négly can trace its origins back to the 18th Century, when it was known as Château Ancely, eventually gaining its current title in 1807. More recently, the estate acquired Domaine de Boède in 2006, bringing Château de la Négly's total vineyard holdings to 75 hectares (185 acres). The 50 ha (124 acres) of vineyards at Château de la Négly are planted on clay-limestone soils, whereas the soils found at Domaine de Boède comprise sandy loam and sandstone.

The château's top cuvée is its Porte du Ciel, made from a blend of Mourvèdre, Grenache and Syrah. Harvest is carried out by hand and the wine aged in new oak barrels for 24 months.

La Porte du Ciel is accompanied by two further top cuvée offerings: L'Ancely and Le Clos des Truffiers. L'Ancely is also made from a blend of Mourvèdre, Grenache and Syrah, whereas Le Clos des Truffiers is a Syrah-predominant blend with Grenache.

Château de la Négly also produces a range of red wines from grape varieties including Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache, Cinsaut and Carignan that are sourced from vines aged at least 50 years old. The estate's white grape varieties – Bourboulenc, Clairette, Roussanne and Marsanne – constitute 20 percent of its vineyards and are the basis of its four white wines. This wine portfolio is completed by two rosé wines made from Grenache, Syrah, Cinsaut and Mouvèdre.
