Vignobles André Lurton is a Bordeaux-based, family-run winemaking company, best known for producing wines from multiple châteaux in Pessac-Léognan. The company is one of the largest landholders and producers of white wine in the area, and has a strong presence in both France and abroad, exporting 50 percent of its production. Lurton produces around four million bottles of wine annually: 58 percent red, 34 percent white and eight percent rosé.
Lurton inherited his first estate in 1956 – Château Bonnet in the Entre-deux-Mers region. Today, the group owns a number of Pessac-Léognan-based Grand Cru Classé estates, including Château Couhins-Lurton, Château de Cruzeau, Château La Louvière, Château de Quantin and Château de Rochemorin. On top of this, Lurton owns 50 percent of Château de Barbe Blanche in Lussac-Saint-Émilion and is a shareholder of Château Dauzac, a fifth growth in Margaux.
Altogether, the company manages around 600 hectares (1500 acres) of vineyard land, producing Pessac-Léognan, Margaux, Lussac-Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur, Entre-Deux-Mers and Graves wines. Red wines are primarily produced from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and the white wines from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, and Muscadelle.
Vignobles André Lurton is primarily owned by André Luton and his children. Since 2012, Crédit Agricole Grands Crus, a subsidiary of the Crédit Agricole Bank, owns 18 percent of the group.
