Castello ColleMassari is an Italian producer located in the Montecucco DOC of Tuscany. Sangiovese is overall the predominant grape while Vermentino is the most planted white variety. ColleMassari was founded in 1998 by siblings Maria Iris and Claudio Tipa, who have since expanded with two more estates, Grattamacco in Bolgheri and Poggio di Sotto in Montalcino.
The vineyards are composed of five dominant soil types: cracked sandstone, sea gravel, limestone and clay, red clay, and clay loam. All of the vines are farmed using ICEA (Istituto Certificazione Etica e Ambientale) certified organic farming practices. All the reds are singly or dominantly Sangiovese, but other red grapes grown are the native Ciliegiolo and Montepulciano, and small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon. Greco Bianco is grown alongside Vermentino. The estate also produces a virgin olive oil and a Grappa.
