Wither Hills is a winery in the Marlborough region of New Zealand's South Island. It has a number of vineyards spread through the Wairau Valley sub-region, planted to the common regional varieties Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and – most significantly – Sauvignon Blanc.
It was founded in 1994 by Brent Marris, who supplemented his own fruit by buying and vinifying grapes from his father's vineyards until increasing production demands led the two to merge their holdings in 1999. The winery grew in prominence in New Zealand, with production expanding from 10,000 cases in 2001 to more than 200,000 only a few years later. The expansion was enough that Marris sold the winery and label to the Australasian beverage company Lion Nathan for NZ$52 million ($35 million). Marris remained as winemaker until 2006.
The majority of Wither Hills wines are produced under the Wairau Valley range, while single-vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines are made and named for each of the respective sites that provide the fruit.
