Rutini is a leading producer in Mendoza founded in 1885 in Coquimbito by Felipe Rutini, an immigrant from a winemaking family in the Marche region of Italy. It is one of the pioneer wine businesses in the region, and in 1925 it was the first winery to plant vines in the Tupungato valley.
The estate has three vineyards in Altamira, La Consulta and Tupungato with around 360 hectares (890 acres) of planted vineyards. A wide variety of grape varieties are grown, though the focus is on Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.
The modern winery at the Tupungato vineyard features optical sorting systems, rotating fermenters, bespoke conical stainless steel tanks and a temperature-controlled cellar which can hold 6,000 barrels. The former winery in Coquimbito is now the largest wine museum in South America.
