Bodegas Bianchi is a leading Argentinian wine estate founded in San Rafael in 1928 by industrialist Don Valentin Bianchi. It is best known for its Enzo Bianchi Gran Cru wine, which, rather unusually for the region, is made predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon. On top of this, Bianchi makes a range of wines from Malbec, Merlot and Chardonnay, covering a range of styles and price points.
The company owns around 350 hectares (865 acres) of vineyards planted to 15 different grape varieties. Precision viticulture is practised to micro-manage small areas using infrared satellite imagery, GPS and other up-to-the-minute techniques. The El Chiche winery dates back to Casa Bianchi's creation, though the company has invested more than US$10 million on the construction of a new 5000-square meter facility.
The flagship wines are the Enzo Bianchi, the María Carmen Chardonnay and the Los Stradivarius range, which includes a dessert wine, a sparkling Cabernet Sauvignon, and a fortified blend of Malbec and Merlot. On top of this, Casa Bianchi makes several other ranges, including Leo, a collaboration with the Leo Messi Foundation.
