Thorn-Clarke Wines is a family-owned winery in Barossa, South Australia. It grows a number of varieties in both the Barossa Valley and Eden Valley sub-regions, with its signature wines being indicative of popular local grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz dominate along with the white varieties Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. Thorn-Clarke was founded by David and Cheryl Clarke, with her family having been grapegrowers in Barossa since the 19th Century.
The estate farms 273 hectares (675 acres) across four vineyards: St Kitts and Truro, Kabininge, Mt Crawford and Milton Park. Elevations range from 885 feet to 1540 feet above sea level with the highest vines given mostly to white varieties. Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon are grown in three out of the four vineyards with the best fruit going to the premium Ron Thorne and William Randell wines. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Nebbiolo are among the grapes grown in smaller quantities throughout the vineyards, while Pinot Gris and Viognier make up the other whites, which are mostly planted in the Eden Valley.
