The coat of arms of Hyeres

La Londe is a sub-appellation of the Cotes de Provence, the core appellation of the Provence wine region in the far south-east of France. Located on the Mediterranean coast just east of Toulon, the La Londe vineyards are spread between the communes of Hyeres and La Londe-les Maures itself, as well as some specific areas of Bormes-les-Mimosas and La Crau. The best sites are situated on the south-east-facing slopes of the southern Massif des Maures hills.

The production area of the Cotes de Provence La Londe title is tiny and constitutes just a small proportion of the Cotes de Provence's 50,000 acres (20,250 ha). There is intensive development going on, however, and further sub-appellations are being surveyed for the future.

As is fitting for a sub-region of Provence, 75% of La Londe wine is rose, with the remaining 25% being entirely red. White wines produced in the area are sold under the general Cotes de Provence title. The roses are made predominantly from Cinsaut and Grenache, bolstered by up to 20% of various red and white varieties, including Tibouren, Syrah, Mourvedre and Vermentino (known locally as Rolle). La Londe reds are produced from a GSM blend, with a dash of Cabernet Sauvignon and Carignan also permitted.
