Cruet is a named cru of the Vin de Savoie appellation that covers an area south of Lake Geneva in eastern France. The cru is named for the village of Cruet that sits on the steep slopes of the towering Mont Charvet mountain. Vin de Savoie Cruet wines are typically light and dry in style, made predominantly from the local white Jacquere grape variety.

The permitted vineyard zone of Cruet covers the land within the administrative commune of Cruet itself, located within the narrow valley that is known as the Combe de Savoie. This valley, which wraps around the southern end of the Bauges mountains, is home to roughly half of the Vin de Savoie crus, including Chignin and Apremont. Cruet's vineyards overlap with those of Arbin to the south, a cru that is known for its red wines from the Mondeuse grape variety. The village of Saint-Jean-de-la-Porte, to the north, is also home to a Mondeuse-exclusive Vin de Savoie cru.

The steep slopes have provided the vineyards with a counter to the cool alpine climate of the region. These south-facing slopes maximize the vineyards' exposure to sunlight during the growing season, allowing grapes enough light and heat to ripen sufficiently in the alpine air. The substantial presence of the Bauges mountains serves to shelter the vineyards from heavy weather systems from the west, although rainfall levels here on the western edges of the Alps are still quite high.

The loose scree soils that characterize Cruet's vineyards are quite similar to those in the surrounding villages. Along this edge of the Combe de Savoie, the vines sit on shallow, rocky soils with underlying limestone marl bedrock that drains easily. This, combined with the steepness of the vineyards, limits the water intake of the vines, leading to a low yield of small berries with a high concentration of flavor.

Although Jacquere must form at least 80% of any Vin de Savoie Cruet wine according to the AOC law, various other varieties may make up the remainder, including Aligote, Altesse and Chardonnay.
