The coat of arms of Modena

Reno is a DOC of the Emilia-Romagna wine region in northern Italy. The title was introduced in June 1987 to cover both red and white wines, sparkling and still, from the south-east of Modena. The DOC's catchment area is relatively large and roughly circular, stretching from the eastern outskirts of Modena to the western edge of Bologna. This area lies between the 'Lambrusco Zone' of Modena, Parma and Reggio and the coastal hills around Fiorli, Castel San Pietro, Faenza and Rimini, where Emilia-Romagna's finer wines typically originate. Within the area lie the Colli Bolognesi hills and a good portion of the Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro vineyards.

Reno's two varietal wines are made from Montuni and Pignoletto. The former is something of a local obscurity, while the latter is beginning to make a name for itself in north-eastern Italy (particularly in the Colli Bolognesi Classico Pignoletto DOCG). Both of these come in still and sparkling forms (both semi-sparkling frizzante and foaming spumante).

Standard Reno Bianco and its sparkling variants are made from a 40% blend of Albana and Trebbiano, filled out by any combination of white grape varieties sanctioned for use under Emilia-Romagna's wine laws.
