Village and vineyards – La Morra, Asti

Dolcetto d’Asti is one of several Dolcetto DOCs in Piedmont, north-western Italy. It was granted this status in 1974 and its 568 acres (230ha) of vineyards perch in the Langhe hills in the Monferrato area, south-east of Asti. Part of this classified zone overlaps with part of the Moscato d’Asti DOCG.

The wine is made from pure Dolcetto and tends to be lighter in style than the Dolcetto d’Alba wine. For the added designation of superiore, this red must be aged for a minimum of 12 months and reach a potential alcohol of 12.5%.
