The coat of arms of Asti

Terri Alfieri is a DOC of the Piedmont wine region in north-western Italy. It is one of the newest additions to Piedmont's already impressive array of DOC and DOCG titles, created in September 2009 and revised unusually promptly, five weeks later. The two wines it covers make a natural couple: both are varietals and made from the traditional Piedmontese varieties Nebbiolo and Arneis. Arneis was once known as Nebbiolo Bianco (white Nebbiolo) because it was used in small quantities to smooth out Nebbiolo's rough edges.

The vineyard area from which Terri Alfieri wines are made spreads over the boundary between the Asti and Cuneo provinces in southern Piedmont; it essentially corresponds to the area between Asti and Alba towns and west of the Tanaro river. This location means it overlaps significantly with the Roero and Nebbiolo d'Alba viticultural zones, as well as a western portion of that of Barbera d'Alba. This already complex area is gaining new titles and boundaries so fast that mapmakers and wine authorities can barely keep track.
