The coat of arms of Sardegna

Sardega Semidano is a wine DOC of Sardinia, introduced in August 1995. It is a regional DOC, spanning the entire island from Sulcis and Cagliari in the south to Gallura in the north – a distance of approximately 175 miles (265km). It is one of several DOCs to have this broad catchment area: the others include Cannonau di Sardegna, Moscato di Sardegna and the Sardinian specialty Monica di Sardegna.

Semidano is a Sardinian curiosity, a white-vine variety found almost exclusively on the island. Plantings of this rare vine pale in comparison to the more prevalent Malvaisa, Moscato and, more recently, Vermentino, but they are slowly increasing in the early 21st century; a new generation of Sardinian winemakers is beginning to experiment with their viticultural heritage, to find out what it can offer in the future. Semidano must make up a minimum of 85% of the must used to make a Sardegna Semidano wine. The remaining 15% can come from "le uve a bacca bianca provenienti da vitigni non aromatici inseriti nella classificazione raccomandati o autorizzati per le province di Cagliari" (white grapes of non-aromatic varieties classified as recommended or authorized for use in the province of Cagliari).

The sub-denomination Mogo is granted to wines coming from vineyards in the south-eastern corner of the Oristano province. This applies to the communes of Baressa, Gonnoscodina, Gonnostramatza, Masullas, Pompu, Sardis, Simala, Siris, Uras, Villanovaforru and Mogo itself.
