The coat of arms of Trento

Vallagarina IGT is a key IGT title used in Trentino-Alto Adige, northern Italy. It covers the Vallagarina district in southern Trentino, named after the Lagarina Valley which marks the lower sections of the Adige River's journey through the Limestone Alps.

In theory, and in keeping with the flexible laws which characterize the IGT category as a whole, Vallagarina IGT wines may be made in any one of various styles: red, white or rosé, blend or varietal and still, sparkling or sweet. There is, of course, a natural tendency to use the region's well-known and established grape varieties, so Pinot Grigio, Casetta, Teroldego and Marzemino are found in many of these wines, alongside smaller quantities of foreign varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The Vallagarina IGT title was introduced in 1995, at the same time as its sister IGT title, Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT.
