The coat of arms of Isera

Trentino Isera is the title used for white wines made under the Trentino regional DOC, specifically from Marzemino grapes grown around the communes of Isera and Villa Lagarina, just south-west of the provincial capital Trento.

The Isera title may be claimed only by those wines which already qualify for the Trentino Marzemino Superiore title, and are made from the vineyards within the Isera viticultural sub-zone.

The Marzemino variety has late-ripening red grapes, and is grown almost exclusively in Trentino-Alto Adige. One of its synonyms is Uva Tedesca (meaning 'German grape'), which serves as a reminder of this region's complex geopolitical history and its location between Italy and the Germanic nations.
