The coat of arms of Volano

Trentino Ziresi is the title used for white wines made under the Trentino regional DOC, specifically from Marzemino grapes grown in the Adige Valley just south of Trento town, between Brennero and Volano.

The Ziresi title may be claimed only by those wines which already qualify for the Trentino Marzemino Superiore title, and are made from the vineyards within the Ziresi viticultural sub-zone.

The Marzemino variety has late-ripening red grapes, and is grown almost exclusively in Trentino-Alto Adige. One of its synonyms is Uva Tedesca (meaning 'German grape'), which serves as a reminder of this region's complex geopolitical history and its location between Italy and the Germanic nations.
