The coat of arms of Treviso

Marca Trevigiana IGT is just one of several IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) titles used in the Veneto region of north-eastern Italy. As hinted at by its title, the geographical area covered by this appellation is the Veneto's eastern Treviso province, the home of Italy's affordable answer to Champagne, sparkling Prosecco.

A Marca Trevigiana IGT wine may be made in any one of various styles: red, white or rosé, blend or varietal and still, sparkling or sweet.

Unsurprisingly, however (given the traditional focus on these varieties in eastern Veneto) the majority are dry, still white wines made from Glera (the Prosecco grape) and Pinot Grigio. Fashionable French white-wine varieties Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay are increasingly also used. Red wines sold under the appellation are typically light in style and made from Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The Marca Trevigiana IGT title was introduced in 1995, just after the IGT category was first introduced.
