Cangas is a wine-growing zone in Asturias, northern Spain. Although it currently holds VC status, its promotion to DO status is thought to be imminent. Cangas is continuing its efforts to improve wine quality in the region and its reputation and it strives to climb Spain's quality ladder.

Cangas is the only wine appellation in Asturias – a region better known for its ciders. Cangas occupies the region's south-western corner, where the drier, sunnier conditions are better suited to viniculture. The area's small-scale viticulture dates back to ancient times, although the tradition was nearly lost until the recent revival. Modern winemaking equipment and centuries-old vines have brought new promise to Asturias' potential as a quality wine region.

The mountainous terrain in this corner of Asturias provides plentiful slopes and hillsides for vineyards , with sunnier south-facing slopes the preference in order to maximize sunshine. The soils are made up of mostly silica rock.

Laws surrounding the VC stipulate that only authorized varieties may be used in the production of Cangas wine. The laws separate the list into two groups: recomendada (recommended) and autorizada (authorized) varieties. There are six recommended varieties, all of which are autochthonous to Spain; Albarin Blanco, Albillo, Garnacha, Mencia, Picapoll (Picpoul) and Verdejo Negro (Trousseau). An additional eight varieties can be cultivated. The most notable of these additional varieties is Carrasquin, a popular choice with local producers.

Red Cangas wines are typically medium-bodied with notes of wild berry and spice, while the whites are typically fresh with green fruits and citrusy notes.
