Conthey is a Swiss wine appellation in western Switzerland, its catchment area covering the village of the same name in the Valais region.

Most Conthey wine is red, consisting mostly of Pinot Noir, Gamay, Cornalin, Humagne Rouge and Syrah. The whites are typically varietal and are made from Chasselas, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc or Pinot Gris.

The hillside vineyards here are overlooked by large mountains to the north and south, notably the Mont Gond ridge and the 9750ft (2970m) Haut de Cry peak. For many miles up and down the valley the vineyards continue almost unbroken – those of Martigny to the west and Sion immediately to the east.

Just above the village, in the narrow Val de la Morge valley, is a group of vineyards which reach a gradient of almost 45 degrees (100%). They face east, making the absolute most of the morning sun, but shadows arrive early in the afternoon. By contrast, the vineyards just a stone's throw away across the valley in Corbassiere face south-west and enjoy the warmer afternoon sunshine longer than almost anywhere else in Valais.
