The Luxembourg Moselle is a 20 mile (32km) stretch of viticultural land on the western banks of Germany's Mosel river at the Luxembourg/Germany border. This upstream portion of the Moselle is less steep than the lower Mosel, with predominantly eastern and south-eastern vineyard orientations.

The Moselle is Luxembourg’s only winegrowing region and in many ways is a cross between the Mosel in Germany and Alsace in France. Riesling struggles to achieve full maturity in this environment and as a result more Alsatian varieties are planted. Cooperatives play an important role in Luxembourg’s wine industry with the largest, Domaines Vinmoselle, comprising two-thirds of the country’s entire wine production. It is common for the name of the estate to appear on the label of a cooperative-produced wine and, where applicable, village and vineyard names may also be offered.
