Vistalba is a small Argentine wine-producing sub-region directly southwest of Mendoza City. Malbec is Vistalba's key grape variety, but Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon vines are also planted here. Other Bordeaux grape varieties (a little Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon as well as reds) also feature on a smaller scale, and there is a little Bonarda.

Vistalba is on the edge of the metropolitan area of Mendoza, and the Mendoza River. It is part of the larger Lujan de Cuyo province, and lies just north of the Las Compuertas sub-region in the western foothills of the Andes. The region therefore enjoys a mountainous terroir that contributes significantly to the style of Vistalba wine.

Vistalba, which means "view of the dawn" in Spanish, enjoys a position that is slightly higher than the surrounding regions. The sub-region thus benefits from increased exposure to sunlight and better air circulation. Warm, sunny days during the growing season are followed by significantly cooler nights due to this high altitude – around 1000 meters (3300ft) above sea level – and it is this diurnal temperature variation that balances the development of essential sugars and acids in the grapes.

Low rainfall, warm summers and cold winters are typical of Vistalba, and during the off season, vines are able to reach proper dormancy, allowing them to store nutrients for the growing season. Plenty of pure Andean meltwater for irrigation is supplied by the nearby Mendoza River.

As in much of the Mendoza region, the soil in Vistalba is alluvial, with sandy topsoil over a stone- and clay-dominated base. This composition allows very good drainage and is therefore excellent for quality-driven viticulture. Vines are forced to grow deep root systems to access the water lower in the ground, and are stronger and healthier for it. The flood irrigation employed extensively throughout Vistalba has also brought deposits from the river into the vineyards. This is said to be one of the key reasons for the high levels of minerality evident in the region's wines.

Many top producers have vineyards and wineries in the Vistalba region. The cast includes Fabre Montmayou, Nieto Senetiner, Trapiche and Bodega Vistalba.
