The coat of arms of Kleinbottwar

Kleinbottwar is a German village in the Württemburg region known principally for wines from the Riesling grape. It lies roughly halfway between Ludwigsburg and Heilbronn on the Murr river, around three miles (5km) northeast of its confluence with the Neckar river. In administrative terms, it is an outlying district of the town Steinhem an der Murr.

There are three adjoining Grosse Lage-classified vineyards in this area. These can be found on a southwest- and south-facing hillside to the northeast of the village, on low-yielding, stony Keuper soils. In the middle of the three, Süssmund ("Sweetmouth", referring to the quality of the wines) is one of Württemburg's most famous vineyards; its 5 hectares (12 acres) are planted almost exclusively to Riesling. Next door the 4-ha (10-acre) Oberer Berg is best known for its Lemberger wines, combining finesse and flavor complexity. These southwest-facing slopes offer panoramic views of Kleinbottwar, and enjoy extended daily exposure to the sun.

Götzenberg is on the other side of Süssmund and is much larger at 20 ha (50 acres). The hillside curves away from Kleinbottwar to face south.
