The coat of arms of Rangen

Clos Saint-Theobald is a walled section of the prestigious Rangen Grand Cru vineyard, located at the southern tip of the prime wine-growing district of Alsace.

The walled (clos) site is a monopole of Domaine Schoffit and is planted mostly with Riesling and Pinot Gris – both of which excel in the terroir. The steep, south-facing slopes expose the vines to maximum levels of sunshine, helping them to ripen fully during the growing season. The mineral-rich volcanic soils are credited with creating the rich, complex organoleptic properties of the wines produced by Clos Saint-Theobald – and indeed across Rangen.

Domaine Schoffit labels its Clos Saint Theobald wines with the historic clos name, but also the Rangen Grand Cru name. The wines – varietals made from Pinot Gris, Riesling and Gewurztraminer – are made under the Alsace Grand Cru appellation.
