"Although this is our first bottling from this magnificent Oak Knoll vineyard, our Winemaker has been working with the fruit since the 2007 vintage. The lean soils of this warm and uniquely exposed “bowl" site yield clusters in below average size, resulting in character and richness. The diminutive berries permit a rare and perfect ripening year over year. We wanted to round out our beautiful Bordeaux assortment of wines with this classic Rhône varietal, so when the fruit became available, we knew we had to have it!"

"Our Syrah sits inky purple in the glass and opens with complex and weighty aromas of ripe raspberries, cardamom, fresh cracked black peppercorns and wet stone. This wine is both elegant and bold. Co-fermentation with Viognier brings precision and juiciness along with notes of powdery violet candy, blackberry and citrus oil to complement the fat meatiness of the Syrah. In the mouth, a gentle and broad attack gives way to black cherry and fresh prune, generous mid palate retention and a soft gliding finish that resolves with pleasing notes of toasted oak.”
